The Sarkin Gobir and Madawaki of Ilorin Emirate, Alhaji Yakubu Garba Gobir, has congratulated Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki (Imam Fulani) on his appointment as the new Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate.
In a statement, Alhaji Gobir described the appointment, approved by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, as a fitting recognition of Sheikh Dasuki’s commitment to Islam, exemplary character, and years of service to the Muslim community.
He expressed confidence in the ability of the new Chief Imam to provide sound spiritual leadership, promote unity among Muslims, and preserve the rich Islamic traditions for which the Ilorin Emirate is widely known.
According to the Sarkin Gobir, Sheikh Dasuki’s emergence comes at a critical time when strong religious leadership is needed to foster peace, moral values, and social cohesion within the community.
He also commended the Emir of Ilorin for what he described as a wise and thoughtful decision in appointing a scholar with a proven record of dedication to Islamic teachings and community service.
Alhaji Gobir prayed for Allah’s guidance, wisdom, good health, and strength for the new Chief Imam as he assumes the responsibilities of the office.
He further prayed for continued peace, unity, progress, and prosperity across the Ilorin Emirate, expressing optimism that the new Chief Imam’s tenure would contribute positively to the spiritual growth and development of the Muslim Ummah.
Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki recently emerged as the 13th Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate, succeeding the late Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Imam Salihu, whose passing created a vacancy in the revered religious office.
