PDP Candidate Predicts Victory in Ekiti Governorship Poll

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Dr. Wole Oluyede, has expressed confidence that he will defeat incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the June 20, 2026 governorship election.

Speaking at the PDP’s grand finale campaign rally in Ado-Ekiti, Oluyede symbolically presented a “red card” to Governor Oyebanji, declaring that voters would remove the APC administration from office through the ballot.

“In football, a red card means dismissal. Today, I have shown Governor Oyebanji a red card and secured freedom for the people of Ekiti,” he told supporters.

Oluyede argued that many residents were dissatisfied with the current administration and described the election as an opportunity for change. He urged eligible voters to participate actively in the electoral process, protect their votes, and resist intimidation.

The PDP candidate also called on voters to remain at polling units after casting their ballots to monitor the counting and recording of results, expressing confidence that security agencies would ensure a peaceful election.

Questioning the impact of federal allocations received by the state over the past three and a half years, Oluyede said Ekiti deserved better infrastructure and development outcomes.

He further advised residents not to be swayed by vote-buying or political propaganda, urging them to make decisions based on the future of the state.

According to him, the election represents a critical moment for Ekiti voters to determine the direction of governance and development in the state.

The governorship election is scheduled to hold on June 20, with Governor Oyebanji seeking a second term in office.
