
The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, has approve the commencement of Jumat Khutbah by the newly appointed Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani, on Friday, June 19, 2026.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Emir’s spokesman, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona.
Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani was appointed the 13th Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate on June 10, 2026, succeeding the late Alhaji (Dr.) Muhammad Bashir Imam Soliu, OON, the 12th Chief Imam of Ilorin, who passed away on January 19, 2026.
Before his appointment, Sheikh Dasuki was the founder and proprietor of Darul Bisharah Arabic and Islamic Studies in Airport, Egbejila, Ilorin. He also led daily and weekly Jumat prayers at Afsat Oloriegbe Memorial Mosque, Oko Olowo, Ilorin, and was a presenter of the Al-Bisharah Islamic Foundation programme on Radio Kwara during Ramadan.
The new Chief Imam is also a lecturer at Darul Kitab College of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Gaa Akanbi, Ilorin. His academic credentials include a Master’s degree in Islamic Studies from Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Shari’ah from Al-Azhar University, Cairo, and a Diploma in Arabic Islamic Education from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
The Emir prayed for a successful and impactful tenure for the new Chief Imam, asking Allah to grant him wisdom, good health, and divine guidance in leading the Muslim community.
He also called on Muslims across the Emirate to participate in the historic Jumat service.
