Lilo & Stitch Voice Actress Daveigh Chase Dies at 35

American actress Daveigh Elizabeth Chase, best known for voicing Lilo in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch and starring in the horror film The Ring, has died at the age of 35.

Her death was confirmed by her manager, John Ryan Jr., in a statement to BBC News.

According to Ryan, Chase was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital after suffering from severe malnutrition. Her condition reportedly worsened after she was diagnosed with meningitis and multiple bloodstream infections, leading to sepsis.

Paying tribute to the actress, Ryan described her as a private individual who preferred a quiet life away from the spotlight.

“She was the greatest. She loved cats and worked with cat rescue groups. She wasn’t very Hollywood,” he said. “She loved acting but wasn’t interested in the fame that came with it.”

Born on July 24, 1990, Chase began her acting career at a young age, securing her first major Hollywood role before turning 10. She rose to international prominence as the voice of Lilo in Disney’s 2002 animated hit Lilo & Stitch, a performance that earned her an Annie Award in 2003. She later reprised the role in several sequels and spin-off productions.

Chase was also widely recognized for her role as Samara Morgan in The Ring, one of the most successful horror films of the early 2000s.

After years in the entertainment industry, she stepped away from full-time acting in 2015.

Tributes have continued to pour in from fans and colleagues, who remember Chase for her contributions to film and animation, as well as her dedication to animal welfare.

Her death marks the loss of a former child star whose performances left a lasting impact on audiences worldwide.
