A chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has declared that Nigerians are yet to see a clear difference between the current democratic dispensation and past military administrations.
He made the remark while assessing 26 years of civil rule in the country, saying that the current Fourth Republic began on May 29, 1999. And lamented that Nigerians still observe traits reminiscent of military rule among many political officeholders.
He argued that most of the promises made by elected officials remain unfulfilled.
The NNPP chieftain further maintained that those in power continue to operate with a mindset rooted in military dictatorship.
He however, urged political officeholders at all levels to uphold democratic principles in governance.
