Emir of Ilorin Mourns Waka Singer Batimoluwasi

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, has expressed sadness over the death of renowned Ilorin Waka singer, Alhaja Ruqayyat Batimoluwasi.

In a condolence message issued on Saturday through his spokesman, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir described the late singer as a cultural icon who made significant contributions to preserving and promoting Ilorin’s rich cultural heritage through Waka music.

He said Batimoluwasi dedicated her life to entertaining and educating the public with songs that reflected moral values and cultural traditions.

“The late Alhaja Batimoluwasi was a pride of Ilorin. She devoted her life to preserving our culture and inspiring people through moral and educative songs. Her voice and exemplary character will be greatly missed,” the Emir said.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, the Waka music community, and the people of Ilorin Emirate, describing her death as a great loss.

He prayed that Almighty Allah forgives her shortcomings, accepts her good deeds, grants her Al-Jannatul Firdaus, and gives her family and loved ones the strength to bear the loss.
