Minister of Works Dave Umahi has said President Bola Tinubu was divinely chosen to restore Nigeria, citing ongoing infrastructure projects as evidence of the administration’s efforts to improve the country and create jobs.

Umahi made the remarks on Tuesday while inspecting a road project in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. He said the improvements in road infrastructure reflect what he described as the President’s commitment to national development.

“I think healing has come to the land through President Bola Tinubu, and the evidence is there,” Umahi said. “You can see the road you have been plying from Abakaliki to this point. Road infrastructure is critical to the development of any nation.”

The minister noted that improved roads have reduced travel time and enhanced connectivity, adding that the projects are delivering tangible benefits to communities.

Addressing concerns about unemployment and economic hardship, Umahi argued that the ongoing construction works have generated thousands of jobs and stimulated economic activity through the demand for locally sourced materials.

“When people talk about hunger, look at the number of people employed on these projects,” he said. “If these infrastructure projects were not ongoing, many of them would be unemployed, and some could even be tempted into crime.”

He added that road construction has also created business opportunities for suppliers and traders, including those selling sand, gravel, cement, steel and agricultural produce, saying the projects are helping to drive local economic growth.
