
Former Minister of Transportation and African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, has lost his mother, Mary Amaechi, who died at the age of 89.
The family announced her passing in a statement issued by the Rotimi Amaechi Media Office on Thursday, saying she died peacefully.
The statement described the late Mary Amaechi as a devoted Christian, respected community leader and family matriarch who was widely admired for promoting peace, unity and selfless service.
“Late Mrs. Mary Amaechi was a cherished matriarch who held her family together in love, peace and unity. She was a community women’s leader and Christian leader whose faith in God was firm and unwavering,” the statement said.
The family also said she would be remembered for her kindness, warmth and unwavering support for those around her, adding that she earned the respect and admiration of members of her community.
Amaechi and his family expressed appreciation for the messages of sympathy and support received following her death.
The family said details of the funeral arrangements would be announced in due course and thanked friends, supporters and well-wishers for their prayers during the period of mourning.
