An ex-captain of the Nigerian national team, Sunday Oliseh, has again kicked against the trend of appointing foreign head coaches.
According to Oliseh, competent indigenous coaches are being unfairly overlooked.
The former Juventus and Borussia Dortmund midfielder made these comments while speaking on a television sport show yesterday.
His remarks come as the Super Eagles are currently coached by French-born former Mali international, Éric Chelle.
The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, appointed the 47-year-old to take over from interim coach Augustine Eguavoen in January 2025.
Chelle remains unbeaten in charge of the three-time African champions, having recorded three wins and two draws, including the 1-1 draw with Russia in June.
