The Labour Party has condemned the recent mass killings in Benue State, calling for immediate deployment of security personnel to protect vulnerable communities across Nigeria’s North Central region.
Describing the attacks as “a fresh wave of senseless killings,” the party’s National Caretaker Committee, chaired by Senator Nenadi Usman, urged a full-scale investigation and swift prosecution of the perpetrators, regardless of status or affiliation.
In a statement issued yesterday, Usman expressed deep sorrow over the killing of more than 100 people, including women, children, displaced persons, and security operatives, as well as the destruction of homes and livelihoods.
Usman urged Nigerians to move beyond “routine condemnations” and demand real action, stressing that silence and indifference only embolden violent actors.
