Guests on Standpoint, a programme on Emirate 98.5 FM, have called for stronger government policies and coordinated action to tackle flooding, insecurity and healthcare regulation in Nigeria.

Speaking during the programme, Dr. Edun Abdul Kareem Jimoh and Comrade Lanre Osho urged emergency management agencies to intensify public awareness campaigns on flood prevention, identify flood-prone communities and encourage residents in high-risk areas to relocate before disasters occur.

On security, the guests appealed to the government to replicate the strategy that led to the rescue of the Oriire abductees to secure the release of other victims still being held in Kwara, Borno and other parts of the country.

Comrade Osho also called for sustained advocacy and security efforts to secure the freedom of the Woro abductees, who, according to him, have remained in captivity for six months.

Commenting on the proposed National Health Facility Regulatory Agency (NHFRA), Dr. Edun urged Nigerians to critically examine the bill, warning that it could lead to higher healthcare costs if not properly implemented.

While supporting stricter regulation of private healthcare facilities, he stressed that the government should priorities the rehabilitation and improvement of public hospitals before establishing a new regulatory agency.
