President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 officials to the boards and leadership of 10 federal agencies and commissions, with all appointments taking immediate effect.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose was appointed Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). He will serve alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as non-executive directors, while the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and existing executive directors remain on the board.
The President also named Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salary and Wages Commission. Former House of Representatives member Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas was appointed Secretary of the commission, alongside several commissioners representing different states.
Other key appointments include Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), and Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Engineer Julius Oloro was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), succeeding the late Dr A.R. Kamal.
President Tinubu also inaugurated the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission with Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as chairman and appointed Shuni Muhammad Dahiru as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education.
In addition, Tosin Johnson Adeyanju was redeployed from the National Lottery Trust Fund to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission, while Gisaor Vincent Iorja was named Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority, replacing Mathias Byuan, who resigned to contest the Benue governorship election.
The Presidency said all appointments take immediate effect.
