The Nafiu Bala Gombe-led faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed the inauguration of a purported ‘new party headquarters’ by the camp led by former Senate President David Mark.

In a statement released on Monday, Gombe described the move as an illegal attempt to usurp the leadership of the party, which he said is founded on democracy, integrity, and the rule of law.

Gombe asserted that the Mark faction has no constitutional, moral, or legal authority to represent the party or its interests.

“The authentic National Working Committee (NWC), recognized by the party’s constitution and a majority of its organs, wishes to state categorically: The faction is illegitimate,” the statement read.

Gombe described the new facility as a private building with no affiliation to the official ADC, warning that it was being used to mislead the public.

He characterized the inauguration as an anti-democratic act designed to create confusion and undermine the party’s internal processes, saying it violated the ADC’s constitution.

The statement called on Nigerians, party members, and institutions—including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and the media—to recognize only directives from the legitimate ADC National Secretariat.

“The legitimate leadership of the ADC remains steadfast in providing a credible alternative for Nigerians and will not be deterred by individuals seeking to undermine our collective progress,” Gombe said.

He added that the faction is pursuing all legal and constitutional avenues to restore order and sanction the actions of the splinter group.

The ADC leadership reaffirmed its focus on its mission to rebuild and strengthen Nigeria, insisting that the party remains committed to its democratic principles and nationwide agenda.
