No fewer than 95 princes and princesses from the Fusengbuwa Ruling House have indicated interest in the Awujale of Ijebuland stool.
The Olori Ebi of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Lateef Owoyemi, disclosed this at the start of the nomination meeting held on Monday at Bisi Rodipe Hall, GRA, Ijebu Ode. Owoyemi is also known as Otunba Jadiara.
Other leaders present at the meeting included the Deputy Olori Ebi, Otunba Ajidagba, and the Chairman of the ruling house, Chief Fassy Yusuf.
Addressing participants, Owoyemi explained that the nomination process would involve screening the aspirants, after which the names of those who meet the requirements would be forwarded to the Afobajes.
He said the Afobajes would select one candidate from the list as the next Awujale and transmit the nominee’s name to the Ogun State Government for approval.
Owoyemi added that any aspirant dissatisfied with the outcome of the process is free to lodge complaints with the state government through the appropriate channels.
The nomination exercise marks a key stage in the succession process for the revered Awujale stool, one of the most prominent traditional institutions in Yorubaland.
