Abiodun Mourns Death Of Mama Lucia Onabanjo At 101

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed condolences to the family of former governor of the state, Chief Olabisi Onabanjo, following the death of their matriarch, Chief (Mrs.) Lucia Onabowale Onabanjo.

Mama Onabanjo died at the age of 101, marking the end of what the governor described as a “glorious era.”

In a statement issued in Abeokuta on Tuesday, Abiodun said the late matriarch lived an exemplary and fulfilled life devoted to God, family, and service to humanity.

The governor noted that while the loss of a mother is always painful, Mama Onabanjo’s passing at 101 is also a moment to celebrate a life of impact and enduring legacy.

He recalled her steadfast support for her husband, the late Chief Olabisi Onabanjo, during his struggles for democracy, human rights, and social justice in Nigeria.

“Mama was a treasure and a source of joy to all who knew her. She consistently supported us with her prayers and goodwill, spreading comfort and hope,” Abiodun said.

He added that she stood by her husband through difficult times and raised children and grandchildren who have excelled in various fields and contributed meaningfully to society.

Governor Abiodun prayed for the repose of her soul and asked God to grant the Onabanjo family the strength to bear the loss.
