The United States has delivered military supplies to Nigerian security agencies to support ongoing security operations across the country.
The delivery was confirmed on Tuesday by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) in a post on X.
According to AFRICOM, the supplies were handed over to Nigerian partners in Abuja as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral security cooperation.
“U.S. forces delivered critical military supplies to our Nigerian partners in Abuja. This delivery supports Nigeria’s ongoing operations and emphasizes our shared security partnership,” AFRICOM stated.
Nigeria has recently experienced a surge in insecurity, with widespread kidnappings and attacks reported in several parts of the country.
In response to the growing threats, the United States has stepped up security support for Nigeria.
On Christmas Day, U.S. forces carried out airstrikes on terrorist enclaves in North-West Nigeria as part of counterterrorism efforts.
The latest delivery underscores continued collaboration between both countries to address security challenges and restore stability.
