Leaders and stakeholders of the Ezhiba community in Nasarawa State have appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule to prioritise the construction of the Ezhiba–Akpata road, citing its poor condition as a major obstacle to transportation, agriculture, and local economic activities.
The appeal was made on Monday during a courtesy visit to the Administrator of Akun Area Administrative Council, Dr Ismaila Garba Adigizi, in Akpata. The delegation was led by the Aren Ezhiba, Chief Danlami Umbugadu.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Chief Umbugadu described the road as deplorable, noting that its condition has caused significant hardship for residents and neighbouring communities who rely on it for daily movement and trade.
“Our people are suffering while using this road,” he said. “We are appealing to Governor Abdullahi Sule to intervene by constructing the road to improve our standard of living.”
The traditional ruler also called for greater inclusion of Ezhiba indigenes in government employment and political appointments, while reaffirming the community’s loyalty and support for the state government.
Other stakeholders at the meeting, including former Speaker of Akun Development Area, Hon. Lami Martina Bako, retired education director Charles Jatau Shari, and Ezhiba ECDA Chairman, Mr Umbugadu Angbashim, echoed the call for improved infrastructure and development initiatives in the area.
Responding, Dr Adigizi thanked the delegation for the visit and assured them of the council’s support for initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the Ezhiba community.
He pledged to promote inclusive leadership focused on unity, peace, and development, and urged residents to continue supporting government efforts at all levels to attract more development projects to the area.
