
Actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has attributed her success in Nigeria’s film industry to years of hard work, dedication and perseverance.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, Akindele reflected on the challenges she faced building her career, particularly as a woman in the industry.
“As a woman in film, it wasn’t easy getting to where I am today. It took hard work, dedication and perseverance,” she wrote, adding that staying true to her craft and embracing originality helped her carve a distinct niche.
The award-winning filmmaker also expressed appreciation to fans and collaborators for their support, especially for her project Behind the Scenes.
Akindele’s remarks come amid ongoing conversations within Nollywood, with some actors and filmmakers openly admitting difficulties with aspects of movie promotion, including dance-based publicity strategies.
She noted that remaining authentic and committed to her creative vision has been central to her growth and sustained relevance in the industry.
