The Oyo State Fire Service has recovered two bodies from separate wells in Saki and Ogbomoso, the agency confirmed on Wednesday.
Hon. Maroof Akinwande, Chairman of the Service, said the first incident occurred on Monday in the Mokola area of Saki, where a 45-year-old man fell into a deep well while attempting to rescue a trapped goat.
“The Oyo State Fire Services Agency (Saki Command) quickly responded and secured the site before recovering the man,” Akinwande said in a statement.
He added that the man had willingly entered the well in an effort to save the animal, but tragically became trapped.
The second incident took place on Tuesday in the Aje Ikose area of Ogbomoso, where a 30-year-old man, identified as Shina Adedeji, fell into a well.
Fire service officers from the Ogbomoso zone were deployed to the scene and successfully retrieved the victim.
Akinwande confirmed that both operations were conducted promptly and with necessary safety measures to secure the recovery sites.
He urged residents to exercise caution around wells and other hazardous areas to prevent similar tragedies.
The agency continues to advise the public on safety precautions and the importance of seeking professional assistance during rescue attempts.
