Senator Nenadi Usman, the Interim National Chairman of the Labour Party, is set to officially take over the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Usman will make history as the first female National Chairman of a major Nigerian political party.
The secretariat, located in Utako District, Abuja, was previously under the control of the Julius Abure-led faction of the party.
Her leadership and team were recently officially recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), resolving the internal factional dispute.
Preparations are underway at the secretariat to mark the transition, with banners featuring Usman and the acting National Secretary, Senator Darlington Nwochocha, being displayed around the building.
The move signals the beginning of a new leadership era for the Labour Party at the national level.
Observers say Usman’s appointment is expected to strengthen party unity and consolidate its organisational structure ahead of upcoming political activities.
Her leadership could also set a precedent for female participation in high-level party politics in Nigeria.
