Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has attributed the high rate of divorce to what she described as the conduct of men in marriages.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, the actress claimed that men are largely responsible for failed unions, alleging that they contribute “95 per cent” to marital breakdowns.
“Men contribute 95 per cent in failed marriages,” she wrote. “Many marriages fail because a significant number of men neglect, cheat, devalue, emotionally harm, emotionally stress, or betray their wives.”
Ogbodo argued that a lack of accountability in relationships and society at large has enabled such behaviour to persist.
The actress, who is in her second marriage, wed her current partner, Bobby Maris, in October 2023. Her first marriage to Norway-based football agent Ato Ubby in 2013 ended less than a year later.
Her comments have since generated reactions on social media, with users debating her claims about the causes of divorce.
