
The Adamawa State Police Command has rescued two kidnapped teenagers and arrested a suspected kidnapper during a security operation in Song Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesperson Suleiman Nguroje disclosed in a statement on Thursday that the victims were abducted from Gwewan Village in Dumne, Song LGA.
According to the statement, a joint security team comprising police operatives and local security outfits carried out a coordinated raid on a suspected kidnappers’ hideout at Suktu Mountain on February 11, 2026. The operation followed the strategic deployment of security assets by the Commissioner of Police, Dankwambo Morris.
Nguroje said the suspects opened fire on sighting the operatives, leading to a gun battle. The attackers fled with possible gunshot wounds, abandoning the victims.
The rescued victims, identified as 18-year-old Rabe Mamman Sani and 16-year-old Aminu Mamman Sani, were found unharmed and later taken to hospital for medical examination.
One suspect, Sanda Bello, 22, from Salasa Village in Dumne, was arrested during the operation and has reportedly confessed to involvement in the crime.
Police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate, while the Anti-Kidnapping Unit has been directed to conduct further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police commended the collaboration between the police and local security groups and urged residents to report suspicious individuals, particularly those with gunshot injuries.
