Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has extended special greetings to both Muslim and Christian communities ahead of the Ramadan and Lent fasting seasons, which begin on 18 February 2026.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor noted that the simultaneous start of the two fasting periods underscores the importance of unity, peace, and harmony among people of different faiths.
Governor AbdulRazaq urged citizens to work collectively against all forms of injustice and societal ills that could hinder the development of Kwara State and Nigeria.
“Fasting opens a unique window for man to get closer to the Creator through abstention from sins, intentional giving of alms, and all forms of good deeds. It helps man to redefine his essence before the Creator,” the statement said.
The governor also prayed for the acceptance of the devotion of all faithful during these holy months.
He encouraged both religious communities to support government initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and wellbeing of residents.
The statement highlighted fasting as an opportunity for spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and acts of charity.
Governor AbdulRazaq emphasized that the shared timing of Ramadan and Lent presents a chance for interfaith collaboration and mutual understanding.
He called on all citizens to engage in prayers and actions that promote social cohesion and communal progress.
The governor concluded by urging faith communities to use this period to foster unity and contribute positively to society.
