Suspected Gun Kills Traditional Ruler, Police Confirms

Gunmen killed Oba Kehinde Falodun, the Alagamọ of Agamọ community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, the Police Command confirmed on Thursday.

DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the state police spokesperson, said the incident occurred on Wednesday around 7:10 p.m. and report was made to the division by a community leader, High Chief Ajewole Clement, at 7:50 p.m.

Jimoh stated that about six armed men stormed the traditional ruler’s residence, forcibly removed him from his compound, and fled the scene.

“The victim was later found a few metres away with gunshot wounds and was confirmed dead at the scene,” he said.

Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer, together with tactical teams, mobilised in collaboration with local security outfits to comb surrounding areas for the suspects.

Local hunters, Amotekun operatives, and Atuluse Security also assisted in the search, focusing on nearby bushes and adjacent communities.

The police said efforts to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects are ongoing, with intensified monitoring and surveillance to ensure public safety.

“The public are assured that no stone will be left unturned in bringing those responsible for this heinous act to justice,” DSP Jimoh added.

Residents with credible information have been urged to report to the nearest police station or contact the state police command directly.

The incident has heightened security concerns in the area, prompting increased patrols and vigilance by law enforcement and local security agencies.
