At least three people have been killed in an attack on Koro communities along the Kwara–Kogi border in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Residents said the assault occurred late Monday evening, February 23, 2026, in the border area between Koro-Ekiti in Kwara State and Egbe in Kogi State.
According to local sources, heavily armed men suspected to be bandits ambushed members of the Kemberi community, shooting them without warning.
Earlier in the day, residents reported sustained gunfire between Koro and Eruku, raising concerns about coordinated attacks across the axis.
Community members linked the rising insecurity to suspected criminal groups believed to be operating from the nearby Ogbe Forest, which they claim has become a hideout for armed gangs targeting border settlements.
The killings have sparked panic in the area, with several villagers reportedly fleeing their homes over fears of further violence.
As of press time, security authorities in Kwara and Kogi states had not issued official statements on the incident.
Residents have called for coordinated security operations to track down the attackers and restore calm to the affected communities.
