Prominent businessman Obi Cubana has announced his support for President Bola Tinubu, advocating for the president’s re-election through the newly launched City Boy Movement, a youth-focused platform aimed at education, empowerment, and national development.
Cubana made the declaration during a meeting with the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, emphasizing that the movement is not a political party but a forum for promoting civic awareness and community progress.
“The unique thing about this movement is that it’s made up of young people, mostly businessmen, not politicians. Our goal is the betterment of our neighbors. Our people lack knowledge, and our work is mostly to educate, to give orientation, and to reorient them—to know whether they are well-acquainted with our collective path forward,” Cubana said.
He stressed the importance of unity and constructive engagement with the federal government, noting that support for Tinubu would facilitate regional development.
“Today, we believe in the government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We, as young professionals and successful businessmen, have come out to tell our people that we are solidly behind Mr. President and his re-election bid,” he added.
Cubana also called for inclusivity in governance, saying, “Any Igbo has to be taken to the center. We cannot always be doing divisive politics. There must be balance, and there must be recognition of every region, because there’s a lot to be done here. We have to be connected to the gas, to the rail.”
He highlighted the importance of educating citizens about development opportunities and government programs, framing the movement’s mission as a tool for regional progress.
“If we are all in opposition to this government, eventually we won’t be remembered. We stand on Bola Tinubu’s mandate. The City Boy Movement is about the progress of Igbo land. Our people lack knowledge, and it is my responsibility to educate them. We stand solidly behind Tinubu,” Cubana said.
The initiative seeks to engage young professionals and entrepreneurs in promoting civic awareness and practical support for local communities, while encouraging collaboration with the federal government to drive development.
Cubana’s endorsement reflects an effort to position the City Boy Movement as a platform for youth-led advocacy and regional empowerment, while consolidating support for Tinubu’s administration ahead of upcoming elections.
