IGP Disu Prioritizes Welfare of Police Officers, Families

The Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu has reaffirmed that the welfare of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) remains a central focus of his administration.

Disu made the statement during the presentation of cheques for group life assurance schemes covering the 2018/2019, 2020/2021, 2021/2022, 2022/2023, and IG family welfare policies for 2024/2025 and 2025/2026. A total of 1,075 beneficiaries and next of kin of deceased officers received payments amounting to over N2.4 billion.

He noted that the disbursed funds also include recoveries from long-outstanding insurance obligations.

“A police institution that calls upon its personnel to make the highest sacrifices must equally demonstrate responsibility and compassion towards them and their families,” Disu said.

He described the ceremony as more than a financial presentation, calling it a solemn acknowledgment of the courage, commitment, and ultimate sacrifices of officers who served the nation.

“To the widows, children, parents, and relatives of our departed colleagues, I extend my deepest condolences. These officers were not only members of the Nigeria Police Force; they were pillars of strength to their families and communities,” he added.

Disu emphasized that the presentation reinforces the NPF’s enduring commitment to the families of fallen personnel, ensuring their sacrifices are recognized and their loved ones supported.

He vowed that the welfare of officers and men will remain a central priority under his leadership, with intensified efforts to improve administrative efficiency and timely delivery of benefits.

“Our goal is clear: every officer must be assured that the institution they serve with dedication will stand firmly by them and their families in times of need,” Disu said.

The initiative underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing efforts to strengthen welfare frameworks and maintain support for its personnel and their families.
