The immediate past Dean, Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Nigeria & Acting Dean, Students’ Affairs at the Kwara State University of Education, Professor Alafara Baba on Wednesday bagged the TMS LMD/EPD Energy Best Paper Award in the United States of America, (USA).
The varsity don who is also the President, Materials Science and Technology Society of Nigeria as well as the Chairman, Light Elements Technology in Council of TMS, USA was honoured in recognition of his excellence in authorship and presentation of an outstanding technical paper.
EMIRATE RADIO 98.5FM gathered that the paper titled: “Development of Optimal Extraction Conditions of Indigenous Lepidolite Ore as Raw Material for Lithium-ion Batteries” was published in the TMS 2025 154th Annual Meeting & Exhibition Supplemental Proceedings.
Alafara, a member of the Ilorin Emirate Association of Professors among other notable associations presented the paper at The Minerals , Metals and Materials Society of the Pan American Materials Congress (TMS 2026: THE WORLD COMES HERE Annual Meeting & Exhibition) by the TMS Executive Director, Prof. James T. Robinson @Light Metals Division Luncheon held at Ballroom 20A of the San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, California, USA: 18th March, 2026.
Prior to this period, the UNILORIN don had received many local, national and international awards as well as held many positions within the academic environment and community-based engagements.
