President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned recent attacks by gunmen in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, Plateau State, and Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President Bayo Onanuga, describe the assaults—including killings and abductions of wedding guests—as an affront to Nigeria’s values, Tinubu vowed that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
“Anyone who sneaks under the cover of night to kill defenceless citizens, as in Jos and Kahir village, is a heartless coward,” the President said. “By targeting soft areas, their aim is not only to inflict harm but also to provoke reprisals and further bloodshed.”
He directed security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the attackers and warned against spreading misinformation that could inflame tensions. The President cautioned against media narratives suggesting the attacks were religiously motivated.
Tinubu stressed that public cooperation is essential for maintaining peace and protecting lives and property. He urged communities to comply with evacuation and relocation advice and praised the safe return of two Kaduna victims.
“I urge our security agencies to act proactively on early warning intelligence. All remaining abductees from Kahir village must be rescued immediately,” he said.
The President commended Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang for managing the Jos crisis and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for supporting rescue operations.
He expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
Tinubu also highlighted ongoing efforts to equip security agencies with advanced technology to track and neutralize criminals in real time.
“Our government remains committed to ensuring the safety of all Nigerians and strengthening the capacity of security forces to prevent and respond to such attacks,” he added.
