WAR: Starmer Refuses Pressure Over Iran–US–Israel Conflict

Keir Starmer has said he will not change his stance on the ongoing Iran–United States–Israel conflict despite mounting pressure following remarks by Donald Trump.

Speaking during a briefing on Wednesday, Starmer insisted that the United Kingdom’s position of not joining the war remains guided by national interest.

His comments came a day after Trump wrote on Truth Social that the United States would no longer assist the UK in matters relating to oil transactions through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route affected by the conflict.

Trump also warned that the US could reconsider its role in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, raising concerns among allies about the implications for Western security cooperation.

Responding to the remarks, Starmer said external pressure would not influence the UK’s position on the conflict.

“I am not going to change my position on the war. Whatever the pressure or the noise, I am the British prime minister; I have to attain our national interest,” he said in a video posted on X.

The conflict, now entering its second month, has disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, contributing to rising crude oil prices and renewed concerns about global economic stability.
