Davido Slams Kwara Governor: ‘Villa Access Hasn’t Stopped Insecurity in Kwara

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has fired back at Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq over comments on political access to the presidency.

In a post on his verified X account on Friday, Davido accused the governor of failing to translate his closeness to Aso Rock into improved security for Kwara residents. He said that access to the Presidential Villa had “brought nothing but insecurity to Kwarans” and described such leaders as “watery.”

The response came after AbdulRazaq spoke at an APC mega rally ahead of Saturday’s Osun governorship election. The governor argued that Osun needed a governor with a direct line to President Bola Tinubu’s administration to attract federal support.

Davido turned the argument back to Kwara, questioning what real gains the state had made from the governor’s proximity to the federal government.

Kwara has recorded several security incidents in the past year. These include deadly attacks in Oke-Ode, Ifelodun LGA, where vigilantes and residents were killed, and continued concerns over kidnappings raised by the opposition PDP. The state government has cited Operation Savannah Shield, a joint operation with federal forces, as part of its security efforts.

This is not Davido’s first intervention in Osun politics. Earlier this week, he called on US President Donald Trump and the international community to monitor the Osun election over fears of violence and intimidation. He also said voters should be allowed to cast their ballots without fear.

The singer has also been active online, including a recent clash with 2027 presidential aspirant Omoyele Sowore over remarks about Davido’s uncle, Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke.
