The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) has intensified its enforcement operations against illegal street activities, seizing 10 motorcycles and arresting several offenders during a clearance exercise at Eleyele Market.
The operation forms part of the agency’s broader efforts to curb illegal street trading and keep public walkways and roads free from obstruction across Oyo State.
The enforcement team, led by the agency’s Chairperson, Aderonke Aderemi, dismantled illegal roadside stalls and temporary structures blocking pedestrian paths and traffic routes within the market area.
Officials said the affected structures, including sheds and parked motorcycles, were removed because they hindered movement and posed safety risks to road users and pedestrians.
The operation mainly targeted traders and commercial motorcycle operators who allegedly failed to comply with existing regulations on street trading and public space usage.
The agency confirmed that those arrested have been taken into custody and will face appropriate legal action.
OYRLEA also stated that similar enforcement exercises would continue in other parts of the state, urging residents and traders to comply with regulations and support efforts to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
