Barau Praises Tinubu Over ₦37bn Kano Road Funding

Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for allocating ₦37 billion to the Kano–Gwarzo–Dayi Road project in the current budget.

Barau gave the commendation while responding to a motion moved by Senator Kamorudeen Olalere on the reconstruction of the Ibadan–Ikire–Ife–Ilesha road, noting that the administration’s infrastructure projects are spread across different regions of the country.

The Kano–Gwarzo–Dayi road, which stretches about 100 kilometres, is being upgraded from a single carriageway to a dual carriageway to improve transportation and facilitate the movement of agricultural produce across neighbouring states.

The project, which links Kano to Dayi town in Katsina State, was initially flagged off by the Federal Government in June 2021.

Barau also expressed satisfaction with ongoing work on other major routes, including the Abuja–Kaduna highway, citing visible progress during a recent trip.

He highlighted additional federal road projects such as the Lagos–Calabar coastal highway, describing them as evidence of the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development.

According to the lawmaker, the road projects have attracted commendation even from opposition figures, reflecting their national impact.

He urged other stakeholders to acknowledge ongoing efforts, stating that despite global financial constraints, the government has continued to invest significantly in critical infrastructure nationwide.
