The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned power outage affecting parts of Ibadan, Oyo State, due to scheduled maintenance at the Ayede Transmission Substation.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the company said the outage followed the shutdown of a 100MVA 132/33kV transformer for routine preventive maintenance.
According to TCN, the exercise is scheduled to take place from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on May 5, 2026.
The company explained that the maintenance is necessary to ensure the transformer remains in optimal working condition and to support reliable power supply in the long term.
As a result of the shutdown, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) will be unable to supply electricity to customers in the Express, Industrial, and Oluyole areas during the maintenance window.
TCN apologised for the inconvenience the temporary outage may cause residents and businesses in the affected areas.
The company added that normal electricity supply would be restored immediately after the completion of the maintenance exercise.
