Tinubu Seeks Senate Confirmation for Ministerial, NMDPRA Appointments

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR

President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to confirm Engr. Joseph Tegbe as a minister and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State.

The President also requested approval for the appointment of Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

The nominations were conveyed in separate letters addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and read during plenary on Tuesday.

Citing Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), Tinubu urged lawmakers to expedite consideration of the ministerial nominations, which require Senate confirmation.

Tegbe, nominated as Minister of Power, is expected to replace Adebayo Adelabu, who resigned to pursue the Oyo State governorship race ahead of the 2027 elections.

A fiscal and economic reform expert, Tegbe brings over three decades of experience spanning the public and private sectors, including a previous role as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa.

He has been involved in major policy and institutional reform initiatives and recently served as Director General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, coordinating bilateral cooperation between both countries.

The nominations come as part of ongoing efforts by the administration to strengthen governance and regulatory oversight in key sectors.
