Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology has warned that temperatures during the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage could reach as high as 47 degrees Celsius.
The agency advised pilgrims to prepare for extreme heat conditions and take precautions against heat-related illnesses, especially during outdoor religious activities in Makkah and surrounding holy sites.
Authorities urged pilgrims to carry umbrellas while moving between locations and to drink water frequently to stay hydrated throughout the pilgrimage.
Pilgrims were also advised to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during the hottest periods of the day.
The advisory further called on worshippers to comply with all health and safety instructions issued by Saudi authorities during the Hajj exercise.
Saudi officials also shared the emergency medical number, 997, for pilgrims requiring urgent medical attention.
The warning comes as millions of Muslims from around the world continue arriving in Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
