TCN Announces 10-Hour Power Outage in Parts of Ondo

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned 10-hour power outage in parts of Ondo State to allow for maintenance and upgrade works at the Ondo 132/33-kilovolt Transmission Substation.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah said the outage will run from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30.

The disruption will affect electricity customers in Okitipupa and Ondo Town, who will be without power during the maintenance period.

According to TCN, the outage is necessary to enable engineers to transfer the Ife-Ondo 132kV transmission line from the proposed Omotosho-Ondo 132kV transmission line bay to the Ife-Ondo 132kV line bay.

The company said the exercise will also include the commissioning of a newly installed 60MVA 132/33kV transformer at the substation.

“As a result, the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) will be unable to off-take power supply to its customers in Okitipupa and Ondo Town for the duration of the scheduled outage,” the statement said.

TCN apologised for the temporary disruption, noting that the upgrade is aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of electricity supply in the affected areas.
