Santi Cazorla Linked With Arsenal Coaching Return

Former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla could make a surprise return to the club in a coaching role following his retirement from professional football, according to Football London.

The 41-year-old recently brought the curtain down on an accomplished playing career after finishing his final season with his childhood club, Real Oviedo.

Cazorla spent six memorable years at Arsenal, where he became a fan favourite despite injuries that disrupted the latter part of his time at the Emirates Stadium.

Speculation over a return to North London has persisted since Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, a former teammate of Cazorla, took charge of the club.

Speaking to Sky Sports in 2024, Cazorla revealed that he had discussed a possible return with Arteta but said his focus at the time remained on playing for Real Oviedo.

“I hold a very special affection for Arsenal. I enjoyed six wonderful years there, and I know the fans have a lot of affection for me,” Cazorla said.

He added: “We have talked about that, but at this moment, my attention is solely on contributing to my current club, Oviedo, and enjoying the final moments of my playing career. After that, we will see what the future brings. Arsenal has always kept the door open for my return.”

With his playing career now over, reports suggest Cazorla could finally reunite with Arsenal as part of Arteta’s coaching staff, although the club has yet to make any official announcement.
