Nollywood actress Cynthia Anijekwu has appealed to Nigerians for financial support after revealing that she is battling cancer for the second time.
In a video circulating on social media, Anijekwu said she was first diagnosed with cancer in 2023 and underwent surgery followed by chemotherapy. Although the treatment initially helped manage the disease, she said the cancer later returned.
The actress disclosed that recent medical examinations showed the cancer had spread to her bones and affected both breasts, making her condition more severe and significantly increasing the cost of treatment.
According to her, doctors have recommended radiation therapy and another surgery, with her monthly medical expenses estimated at about N600,000.
“I need to live. I need to survive. I’m asking Nigerians to please help me. Anyone that can help, please, I need help,” she said. “Your one naira, your two naira can add up to something reasonable for me to get the proper treatment for this cancer.”
Anijekwu, who has appeared in several English- and Igbo-language Nollywood productions, said the financial burden of her treatment has become overwhelming for her family, prompting her public appeal for assistance.
