Gunmen Abduct Three Federal University of Lafia Students

Gunmen have abducted three students of the Federal University of Lafia in Nasarawa State, with police rescuing one of the victims during a search-and-rescue operation.

The Nasarawa State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Wednesday by its spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel.

According to the police, the students were kidnapped on Tuesday night from Living Seed Lodge, located in a bushy area on the outskirts of the students’ residential community in Lafia.

The command said it received a distress call at about 9:20 p.m. from the university’s Chief Security Officer, prompting the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, to deploy tactical teams, patrol officers and other security personnel to the area.

Police operatives immediately launched a coordinated search operation in the surrounding forest, leading to the successful rescue of one of the abducted students.

The command said efforts had been intensified to rescue the remaining two students and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

The commissioner directed all operational and intelligence units to sustain the ongoing operation until the victims are safely rescued, assuring residents that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

The police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could aid the rescue mission, while advising residents to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
