Jay-Z Concert Delayed After Gate Breach at Stadium

A Jay-Z concert at Yankee Stadium in New York was delayed by more than four hours on Sunday night after hundreds of people without tickets attempted to force their way into the venue, organizers said.

According to a Live Nation representative, large groups of ticketless individuals pushed past legitimate ticket holders and, in some cases, breached security, prompting officials to shut all stadium entrances for an extended period.

“Hundreds of individuals in large groups who did not have tickets to tonight’s performance stormed over peaceful ticket holders, and in some cases, breached security,” the organizer said.

The gates were later reopened gradually to ensure the safety of fans both inside and outside the stadium.

The concert, originally scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. local time, was delayed as hundreds of ticket holders remained outside waiting to enter. Fans were eventually admitted in small groups, and Jay-Z took to the stage at about 12:15 a.m. on Monday.

Before beginning his performance, the 56-year-old rapper briefly addressed the crowd of more than 40,000, explaining the reason for the delay.

The show marked the final performance in Jay-Z’s three-night concert series and his first major solo concert run since 2017.
