The Commissioner of Police in Taraba State, Moorkwap S. Dongshal, has urged police officers to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force by demonstrating professionalism, discipline and integrity in their dealings with the public.

Dongshal gave the charge on Tuesday in Jalingo at the close of a specialised training programme for police constables on weapon handling and tactical manoeuvres aimed at improving operational readiness and response to emerging security threats.

Commending participants for their dedication throughout the training, the commissioner encouraged them to apply the knowledge acquired with discipline, diligence and a strong commitment to their constitutional responsibilities.

He stressed that operational competence must be accompanied by sound judgment, respect for human rights and strict compliance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dongshal also directed officers to adhere to the Rules of Engagement and Force Order 237 during operations, noting that the use of force must always be lawful, necessary and proportionate.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to continuous training and retraining of personnel in line with the vision of the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to strengthen policing capacity across the country.

According to the commissioner, the initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve the operational effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force, enhance crime prevention, protect lives and property, and maintain peace and security in Taraba State.

He added that the command remains committed to delivering professional, people-centred and effective policing services to residents of the state.
