The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB) has denied allegations that it was involved in the alleged leakage of results from the recently concluded Common Entrance Examination in the state.

The denial followed claims aired during a programme on a radio station in Ibadan. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the board described the allegation as false and misleading, saying it could damage the reputation of the board and its leadership.

OYOSUBEB said it had no involvement in the setting, production, handling or administration of questions for the examination and therefore could not be linked to any alleged leakage.

“For the avoidance of doubt, OYOSUBEB is not involved at any stage in the conduct, setting, production or handling of questions for the Common Entrance Examination,” the statement said.

The board said the administration of its Executive Chairman, Dr Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, had maintained standards of transparency, accountability and professionalism, adding that it would not allow unverified claims to undermine its credibility.

It also directed all complaints or inquiries concerning the conduct, administration or outcome of the examination to the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, which it identified as the appropriate authority responsible for the examination.

While acknowledging the media’s role in holding public institutions accountable, the board urged broadcasters and other media organisations to verify information before publishing or airing allegations involving public officials.

OYOSUBEB also warned that defamatory statements or continued allegations against Adeniran would attract legal action, saying it would pursue available legal remedies to protect the reputation of its leadership.

The board urged members of the public to disregard the allegation and rely on verified information from relevant authorities. It reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening basic education and promoting transparency and accountability across Oyo State.
