The Ministry of Interior has dismissed a fake press release circulating on social media and messaging platforms, which claimed that the ongoing Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board recruitment exercise had been postponed until after the 2027 general elections.

The document, dated August 11, 2026, was titled “CDCFIB Recruitment Update” and falsely attributed to the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani, the government said the document did not originate from the ministry, the minister’s office or the CDCFIB.

The ministry described the purported release as “fake, unauthorised and fraudulent,” stressing that the minister neither signed nor issued it.

It also clarified that no decision had been taken to suspend or defer the recruitment exercise until after the 2027 elections.

“The exercise is ongoing,” the ministry stated, urging applicants and members of the public to disregard the circulating document.

The ministry advised applicants to rely only on information published through the verified platforms of the Ministry of Interior and CDCFIB for updates on the recruitment exercise.

It also directed applicants to use the official CDCFIB recruitment portal for authentic information and warned the public against relying on unverified social media posts.
