Results are beginning to emerge from polling units across Osun State following the conclusion of voting in some areas during Saturday’s governorship election.

Voting was scheduled to end at 2:30 p.m., although voters who were already in line before the closing time are allowed to cast their ballots in accordance with electoral guidelines.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is expected to collate results from the various polling units before announcing the final outcome.

A total of 2,339,233 residents are registered to vote in the election, which features 15 political parties on the ballot.

The major contenders include the incumbent Governor, Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party; the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji; and the African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam.

Results from polling units where voting has ended and ballots have been counted are expected to form the basis of the ongoing collation process.
