The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero (AFUSTA), Prof. Ismaila A. Mungadi, has resigned from his appointment, effective Friday, August 28, 2026.

In a resignation letter addressed to the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Mungadi said recent developments had made it difficult for him to carry out his mandate with the independence, effectiveness and institutional harmony required.

He explained that he accepted the appointment to stabilise the university, strengthen governance processes, restore confidence and academic integrity, and oversee the transition to a substantive vice-chancellor.

According to him, significant progress was made during his time in office through collaboration with members of the university community and other stakeholders.

Prof. Mungadi thanked Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, for the confidence reposed in him and the opportunity to serve the university and the state.

He, however, said remaining in office under the prevailing circumstances would not be in the institution’s best interest.

“I have come to the considered conclusion that, under the prevailing circumstances, I may no longer be able to satisfactorily accomplish the objectives for which I accepted the appointment,” he stated.

The acting vice-chancellor described the decision as a difficult one and reaffirmed his commitment to the growth of AFUSTA and the advancement of education in Kebbi State and Nigeria.

The university is expected to announce arrangements for a new acting vice-chancellor in the coming days.
