The Adamawa State chapter of the Labour Party has suspended four members over alleged breaches of the party’s constitution and insubordination.

The affected members — Kamalludeen Jibrilla Aliyu, Andrew Adamu, Suleiman Abdulkareem and Tufanus Daniel — were accused of participating in an alleged attempt to remove the state chairman, Jonah Theman Kalpenge, at an unauthorized meeting held at the party’s state office in Yola on August 5, 2026.

The party said the four members also failed to cooperate with a disciplinary process initiated to investigate their alleged involvement.

According to the party, its Disciplinary Committee investigated the matter and submitted a report to the State Working Committee, which subsequently approved the suspensions.

The committee had invited the four members to appear before it on August 8 to explain their actions, but they reportedly failed to attend

The Labour Party said the disciplinary action followed its determination that the meeting and the alleged attempt to remove the chairman were unconstitutional.
