Five Family Members Killed in Ilorin Building Collapse Buried

Five members of the same family who died in a building collapse in Ilorin, Kwara State, have been buried according to Islamic rites.

The victims died after a two-storey building collapsed in the Popo Giwa area of Ilorin on Tuesday evening. Their bodies were later recovered from the rubble.

The deceased were buried at the Muslim Cemetery in Oko-Olowo, Ilorin, following a janazah prayer led by renowned Islamic scholar and University of Ilorin lecturer, Prof. Abubakar Imam Ali-Agan.

In a brief sermon after the prayers, Ali-Agan urged Muslims to accept Allah’s will and maintain faith in Him, particularly in times of tragedy.

He described death as inevitable and encouraged the bereaved family to find comfort in Islamic teachings on the reward for those who die in tragic circumstances.

The cleric also called on the government to intensify public awareness campaigns on measures residents can take to reduce the risks associated with disasters and building-related incidents.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq was represented at the funeral by Alhaji AbdulRazaq Jiddah.
