The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has congratulated Professor Biodun Sulyman Alabi on his appointment as Vice-Chancellor of the Armed Forces Medical University.

The monarch described Alabi’s appointment as a recognition of his hard work, professional excellence and commitment to service.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesman, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, Sulu-Gambari said Alabi had distinguished himself in medical education and university administration.

The Emir highlighted Alabi’s tenure as Provost of the College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin, where he provided leadership in teaching, research and clinical training.

He also cited Alabi’s service as Chairman of the Association of Provosts of Colleges of Medicine in Nigeria (APCOM) and Chairman of the Ministerial Monitoring Committee on the TETFund High Impact Intervention Project for the Rehabilitation of Medical Schools in Nigeria.

Sulu-Gambari said the appointment was a source of pride to the Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State and Nigeria, particularly given Alabi’s contributions to strengthening medical education and institutions.

He expressed confidence that the new vice-chancellor would use his experience to advance the Armed Forces Medical University and strengthen the training of medical professionals for the nation’s Armed Forces and the wider country.

The Emir prayed for Allah to grant Alabi wisdom, strength and divine guidance as he assumes his new responsibilities.
