Real Madrid Defender Asencio Acquitted in Sex Video Case

Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio was acquitted on Thursday of charges related to the alleged disclosure of a sexually explicit video without the consent of those involved.

Asencio and his former teammates Ferran Ruiz, Juan Rodriguez and Andres Garcia had faced charges in connection with the videos. According to Marca, the two women featured in the recordings told the judge they had forgiven the four defendants, after which the court cleared them of the charges.

Following the ruling, Asencio said he had endured “difficult moments during the whole process” and thanked Real Madrid and those who supported him throughout the case.

The 23-year-old’s future at Real Madrid remains uncertain, however, after manager Jose Mourinho revealed on Thursday that the club had opened disciplinary proceedings against the defender following a drink-driving conviction.

Asencio has yet to feature for Real Madrid this season because of a muscle injury.
